5/15 Class update and homework due 5/22

Hi folks,

This week we took a bit more time to get to know lenses and then we also moved into the interesting world of mirrors.

Be sure to take some time this week to look over those old quizzes.  It's the best way to review for the final that we will have the Monday after next.

For homework this week read this website: http://www.explainthatstuff.com/howmirrorswork.html

Then answer the following questions.

1.  What is the definition of "conservation of energy"?

2.  According to the website, what does a football have to do with potential and kinetic energy?

3.  What three things can happen to light when it hits something?

4.  What does diffuse mean?

5.  What is a photon?

6.  What is specular reflection?

7.  What happens when silver atoms reflect light?

8.  What are the three types of mirrors?

9.  Draw a picture of how light rays would bounce off of a convex mirror.

10.  Draw a picture of how light rays would bounce off a concave mirror.

11.  Do mirrors "flip" images right to left?   How do they really flip objects?
